I had the opportunity to spend part of the day yesterday with Caitlin and Ryan shooting their engagement pictures for their July wedding. It was a bit chilly, but we still had fun and got some great pictures from the day. Here are some teaser images from the session!

Loved Ashley and Doug’s wedding… everything went awesomely (yes, I did just use the word awesomely, and I’m okay with that). Such a great couple, such a great night. Keith was shooting video that night, as was Steve and I, and both Steve and I were shooting pictures as well. I know the video for their wedding will be amazing, and the pictures are just fantastic… you can see their wedding blog post, and here is their ROCK STAR video slideshow… nearly 100 images from the day… enjoy!
For those of you just joining us at Small Moments Studios, we include a ROCK STAR video slideshow in every photography package… this is from Natalia and Jonathan’s wedding at Falkirk Estates… the staff there is amazing and the property is great… not to mention all the changes that Matthew is continuing to make. After discussing the plans with him, it’s clear that he’s dedicated to making the whole wedding experience a great one for every couple that comes in.

When I heard of the events in Japan, of course my heart went out to those it affected. I know people living in Japan and I know people with family there, and my thoughts went to them. I wanted a way in which I could help out… when I saw my friend Rebecca posting about a benefit she was organizing, I knew I had to call her and ask her if I could be involved. Funnily enough (yes, yes, I said funnily) she called me before I could get in touch with her and she asked me if I would consider photographing the event. I immediately volunteered to shoot the event, though I couldn’t speak on behalf of the rest of the Small Moments Studios crew. But when I emailed Keith, Nick and Steve about the performance, they all said they’d love to be a part of it.
And so, Small Moments Studios volunteered this past Sunday night to cover a benefit dance/concert benefiting Japan and the relief effort. If you recall (because I know you’ve all been following the blog meticulously) last year I shot a dance performance at Hunter College for Rebecca Imaizumi… following that I did a photoshoot for Rebecca and then Keith and I shot another dance recital… shooting video for Millennium Dance Company… I have been eager to be involved in more of the dance photography/video. And so for this performance, I decided to shoot video alongside Keith, leaving the photography to Steve and Nick. So below are some of the shots that they captured. And once we have the benefit video put together, we’ll let you know how you can get a copy.
Thanks to all the performers… you were all amazing… some of you I knew from last time, but a lot of new people, new routines, amazing singers, poetry, musicians… it was just great. And thanks to everyone that came out to the show… overall we raised over $2,000! Thanks again to Rebecca and Lanette for organizing the event and for calling on Small Moments Studios to be a part of it. Any time ARGI needs us, let us know!
Back from another great wedding, this time we were back at the Overlook Lodge at Bear Mountain… Vanessa and Andrew, if you remember had a great engagement session (Vanessa & Andrew Engagement Post) and I was really looking forward to their wedding. Keith and I had a great time with the bridal party and throughout the whole wedding. Enjoy the teasers from the wedding and congratulations again to Vanessa and Andrew!
It’s always nice to hear from someone that they like your work… especially nice if that person happens to be another photographer. I was honored when Todd Johnson of Come Together Studios called me up and asked me if I’d consider possibly shooting a wedding for him as his baby was due on a date he had booked for photography. I held the date for him with the understanding that if his baby was being born, I’d shoot the wedding… if not, I’d join him and second shoot with him. As it ended up, he had his baby boy Owen (congratulations!) earlier in the week, so he was able to shoot this wedding, and I joined him for the day. It’s always great to see someone else in action to compare techniques and talk about everything from lenses and lighting, to client interaction and package offerings. Todd and I have a similar philosophy with what we do… we both do care about our couples and want to give them the best output possible. We do some things differently with our style, our cropping, etc., but we both work similarly…
So below are some of the shots from Kristine and Daniel’s wedding at the beautiful Lake Isle Country Club in Eastchester New York. Since I’ve never really second shot a wedding at all, I had to try to put myself in a different mindset at times… I wasn’t directing the bride and groom… I wasn’t directing things at all… but Todd did a great job of that… I wasn’t always using my normal lens, since that was what Todd was using… I tried to go with a wider lens to offer a different perspective to what he was shooting. In the end though, my favorite images were taken with my favorite lenses (the 70-200 2.8 and the 50 1.2 for those of you who are into photography). Check out the pictures below. Next week… another glorious wedding to shoot… the third of the year for Small Moments Studios… not counting this one where I was helping Todd out.
The second wedding of the year, and if these past two weddings are any indication, 2011 is going to be amazing… we’re taking everything up a notch. Ashley and Doug had a truly fun wedding at The Greentree in New Rochelle… the staff is always great there and the place just looks amazing. After spending some time with Ashley and her family, I could tell that number 1, they were all close, and that number 2, they were all relaxed and happy people… and that Ashley has a slight penchant for the dramatic. This was perfectly illustrated in the Father/Daughter dance that took place… it was relaxed, happy, fun, and slightly dramatic. I’ve posted a couple of images from the dance below, but you can’t get a good feel for it without the video… so I’ll definitely have to post that dance eventually. That’s the type of dance I want to do with my daughters. And let it be known that when To Sir With Love comes on, it’s hard for me to not get emotional… I know my daughters are only 4 and 2.5, but I can’t help imagining that one day it’ll be me dancing with my girls…
Ok, so check out some of the images below… it was hard to limit my pick to 20 images to show… I might end up posting a few more on the Small Moments Studios facebook page… we’ll see. Either way, congratulations to Ashley and Doug… I’m sure you’re enjoying yourselves! Keith, Steve and I had a great time at your wedding… thanks for allowing us to be a part of your day and thanks for trusting us to capture your memories on film (though technically not film).
